New Artist: Joanna Commings

Joanna Comming's move to Cornwall in 2002 unleashed her fascination with painting the landscape in all its moods.

"The Cornish landscape has a profound effect on me: the contortions of rocks, the sea in all its moods, the breadth of the moors, the calm of the estuary. My constant and absorbing challenge is to respond to the effect produced on this landscape by the differing light and seasons. I work in acrylics, which I love for their versatility, and also in oils."

New Work: Jon Harry

A retired CID Police Sergeant from Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, Jon Harry lives at St Austell in Cornwall. He has been painting since around 1997 and has exhibited his watercolours at exhibitions in Polperro, Falmouth, St Austell and Mevagissey.

In 1999 Jon appeared on the Channel 4 art programme 'Watercolour Challenge' when it did a series in Cornwall, reaching the final with paintings of South Crofty and Falmouth Harbour. He is also on the St Austell Society of Artists committee.

New Work: Jessica Cudlip

A wide variety of materials can be found in the art of Jessica Cudlip: acrylic paint, varnish, fabric paint and often glitter. She creates a visual impact using reflection, light, movement and vibrant colour, which, tied together, gives Jessica's work a sense of fluidity and movement.

A link can often be drawn between her paintings and the Cornish scenery; many of her pieces are inspired by the incredible sunsets and unpredictable weather of Cornwall. Jessica has recently been exploring the use of textiles and torso/ pregnancy bump casting as an add-on to her more environment-inspired work.
