Katrina Slack

Eclectic environmental artist working in acrylics, mixed media and photography. She utilises a range of mediums, but all are inspired by the natural environment. Much of her work is an expression of the simple pleasures obtained from observing our natural world but, within this, she represents how our view is now obscured.

Katrina originally trained as a photographer and much of her early work is of a more journalistic nature. Since moving to Cornwall her photography has reflected the landscape around her.

Mixed media pieces include compositions made from debris found on St Ives beaches, ironically using man-made materials to imitate the powerful forces of nature. Other pieces include Pod Pictures, acorn pods mounted on boards, a little reminder of what we tread under foot.

Her acrylic work is varied and versatile, from the swirling colours and textures of “Wizard Walk” to the slightly cynical “Tyre-less".

Katrina has her studio in Carbis Bay and her work is permanently exhibited at “The Bean Inn Vegetarian Restaurant” in Carbis Bay, Cornwall. For other exhibitions information can be found on her website www.katrinaslack.co.uk.
